Not much of a game really but that narration totally makes this great.
As you stated its a "story delivery device."
Mechanics are a bit off and its pretty slow throughout but Im sure you knew that.

Nice job.

TheMillz responds:

Thanks man. I cant compete with console games so i had to go in a different direction. Given the time i spent on it (not much) im quite happy with how it turned out

WHAT AN ENDING! Bravo @08jackt!

This series has been such a treat. <3

JackAstral responds:

Thanks :-) I was really nervous about this ending...hopefully people like it :B

If youre ever going to put a demo out for a game, this is EXACTLY how it should be.
Enough detail, funny dialogue and good puzzles. Its a perfect demo to get players hooked.
The pixelated graphics are just lovely.

The only thing Im not a huge fan of is the controlling (I got jumbled a few times with which control was what but Im sure if I was playing the full game, I would get used to it)

Great job. Looking forward to the full game. Hopefully its not too expensive :/

squidly responds:

What about the controls was confusing - were people more used to S being jump and A being shoot, or ZXC controls, or...? Please send a PM with control ideas if you'd mind.

Thank you for this review, I'm glad you liked the demo :D

Wow. Loads of fun.

Controlling is smooth and its a very interesting concept.

All around great job.

elpepiii responds:

Thank you very much! It took me some time to get the controls to feel good.

Simple game done well. The story was good, nothing compared to your other games that are so story based.

There wasnt much gaming involved really. Could of used a jumpscare or two in my opinion.
One of the rooms in the church was completely too dark to see anything.
Regardless Im impressed youve made this in 4 hours.

Would LOVE to see you expand on this.
You're already an extremely talented developer and horror is right up my alley.

JackAstral responds:

Thanks! I definitely want to expand on this kinda idea in future projects- I think the genre suits me!

Super laggy on both Firefox and Chrome for me (Not having any problems with other games today)

Graphics are AWESOME and the idea is great.

RitchieRitual responds:

It's probably your computer, the game has been tested on some pretty low end machines and I haven't found any performance issues. Thanks for your review though :)

This game wasnt as polished as your other games. Few weird bugs here and there but still ultimately playable.

You are a fantastic story teller, I always look forward to new episodes.

JackAstral responds:

Oh no, what were they ?!

This is by far the best game to come out this Ludum Dare 35. GREAT JOB.

Its a short game but the controls are good and there is an AMAZING use of the shape-shift idea and executed well. The colors and graphics are perfect. Story is nice.

I wish it was longer, and/or that you make a Morph Ranger 2 because its very good. If you can make this in 72 hours, you sir are a great programmer.

MrNannings responds:

Thanks for your response. I made it in 48 hours :P and you haven't seen the code lol. I'm thinking of extending this version because I have unused assets like a jetpack shape. I always like feedback like this:D

Creating a game as involved in 72 hours Im sure isnt easy so I give you credit for that.

But as for the game, its just a little all over the place. The mechanics are a bit annoying to undestand and too much is involved. Im not sure what is the best way to go about this because I feel like Im learning new shapeshifting combos either too early or late in the progression of the game. (Meaning that I'll learn a combo and not even use it until a different section on the game) There is alot of back and forth pressing D to even look at the combos, losing valuable playing time and interest.

Its a cool concept just not executed well enough, but again, you did great for 72 hours.

esayitch responds:

Hi!

Currently, the new shapes you acquire (especially the ones related to movement/size) should be used immediately (for instance, the wheels allow you to cross the lasers and are used extensively in that area).

I agree that the way I relay the instructions to the player (pressing D and looking at a combo "ceat sheet") is not ideal, but I made that in the last two hours of the competition xD I wanted to make it so specific key combos appear on the screen in relevant sections to guide the player to use stuff (similarly to X and C buttons, but dependent on the player's unlocked shape), but I just didn't have enough time to!

I hope you still enjoyed it after getting used to it :)

Im pretty lost..

Its a memory game with numbers then randomly some sort of shapeshifting...thing? Its not a game right? Its just making random shapes with how many points youve collected. Its just odd. I dont get it.

ToadieTechnika responds:

You may consider of making random shapes as a "guessing game".
It's a game of gathering vertices in a memory game then build shapes with them in the end of every deck of cards. This is just me making unusual things :D

Gamer who loves ANYTHING Horror, RPGs, Adventure, Point-n-click and Time Management. I tend to always write reviews when I play a game. If you have any recommendations or just wanna talk games, hit a girl up. Laters!
